Cooper Weston Electrical Contractors were instructed to strip down, install temporary power and lighting and fit new electrics for a property in Pinner Road, Harrow, London.
Core works completed
Commercial interior fit out and office refurbishers, CID interiors subcontracted the team to execute the extensive work.
Set up and temporary electrics
Firstly, Cooper Weston stripped out all of the buildings existing electrics which were out of date and unsafe, bringing the space back to bare. As this work was part of an extensive refurb, Cooper Weston also wired up temporary power to ensure all of the other trades in the building had access to sufficient power in every level of the building throughout the duration of the works.
In addition, temporary lighting was installed so that all trades had adequate lighting day and night on both the upstairs and downstairs levels. This was crucial to both productivity and safety.
- Cable trays
- Air conditioning units
- New comms
- Twin and earth cabling
- New fuse boards
- New data install with Cat6 cable
- New lighting system
- LED panel light fittings
Cooper Weston installed two new 300m cable trays around the building, one to carry power and lighting and the other to carry data and comms cabling. These ensured that all the cables remained neat, well ordered and in the future are easy to maintain and identify.
The project included the installation of air conditioning units which Cooper Weston mapped out and fitted the electrics for. The air conditioning supplies were wired with SWA (steel wire armoured) cables as the initial specification.
All new comms were installed within the building and updated comms supplies were wired with both SWA and T&E (twin and earth) cabling within the correct containment. These were completed with commando sockets allowing them to withstand water and foreign objects or unswitched spurs for safety and maintenance purposes depending on the usage and specifications for each area of the building.
Furthermore, power, lighting, fresh air supplies, door entry, heating, bathroom appliances and kitchen (power circuits) were wired with twin and earth cabling.
The site required new fuse boards to divide the power from the mains supply into individual power circuits. Cooper Weston installed two new 3 phase fuse boards compete with upgraded tails and the whole site had sufficient bonding and earthing installed to comply with the latest regulations.
A new data install was wired with a Cat6 cable to support Gigabit ethernet allowing super fast data connectivity. Floor boxes were cut in and installed on both levels for office use (data and power) and TFL iBus which allows up-to-date travel information to be displayed at the property using Transport for London’s API.
A complete new lighting system was installed into every area and floor of the property and included stylish, and energy efficient LED panel light fittings.
